“We began our journey with ADAPT as we were struggling with the challenge of Founder succession. With the Founder at retirement age and no succession plan in play, we had a lot of uncertainty around how the business was going to operate in the future.
With the help of our ADAPT Coach, we were able to formulate a way forward, and this started by documenting where we had been. Taking the knowledge and passion of the Founder and communicating why we exist, how we agree to behave, and our shared vision for the future.
We then implemented initiatives to work more effectively together, developing teams to manage the work, tackling cultural issues, and fostering great relationships between peers. We actively check in with our staff on their engagement with ESM and are more proactive about closing the gap between what employees want and what we deliver.
Any change takes time and working through this journey has been ongoing for nearly two years. We are finally getting to the point where the Founder can achieve his succession goals and see the business continue successfully with a cohesive and productive leadership team.”
